Discover the scenic beauty of South Portland on a two-hour lighthouse bicycle tour. Starting at either 9 am or 3 pm, you'll pedal along the picturesque South Portland Greenbelt Pathway, passing by two iconic lighthouses. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the coast and learn about local maritime history.
Your first stop is the Portland Breakwater Light, affectionately called "Bug Light," built in 1875 to guide ships into Portland Harbor. Afterward, you'll continue to Spring Point Ledge Light, constructed in 1897, situated at the end of a historic granite breakwater. You’re even allowed to walk on the breakwater to get closer to the lighthouse and explore the nearby Fort Preble, which has played a role in every major war since 1812.
